Yet another early review of MAYAN – Atlantis Returns!

I’m really not surprised that I like a book titled Mayan: Atlantis Returns. Only bad writing and a terrible plot could spoil a book about the return of Atlantis to Earth. Fortunately for fans of ancient mysteries and science fiction action tales, Neil Enoch writes as well as anyone out there and the plot of Mayan: Atlantis Returns is very good indeed. This is the first book in a series called The Millennia Series and I must say this series is off with a bang. If Neil Enoch can keep up the style and level of writing that he has throughout the series, then I have no doubt he will eventually have a bestselling series on his hands. Something that teens and adults can enjoy.

Mayan: Atlantis Returns is entertaining in a way that will appeal to many age groups and types of readers. I particularly liked the character of Tara, who is a teenager. Yet I also found myself liking both of her parents, who, though they are divorced, get along just fine. I found that a lot of my attraction to Mayan: Atlantis Returns centered around the family dynamics almost as much as it did the action/adventure aspect. You care about the characters in a real, everyday sort of way despite the extraordinary adventure they are caught up in. Neil Enoch has done a great job of creating a great novel with great characters who manage not to become larger than life. This reminds me of the way J.K. Rowling handled her human characters in the Harry Potter series.
